A Brief History We are honored that you are visiting our web site. The Community Evangelical Methodist Church was organized by the Reverend G.M. Allison and Brother J. Carver Thompson in 1939 as the High Point People's Christian Movement. This work started as a result of Tent Revivals they had held in the area. For a while they met under the shade of two oak trees on the property that had been purchased. Later, they built on this site and started Worship Services in the building before it was completed, using a dirt floor. In 1967 the property was put up for sale and a new site was purchased at the corner of Burton Street and Joe Moore Road. From these humble beginnings until today, the Community Evangelical Methodist Church has strived to be within the Will of God in all things. If you are seeking a church home where you and your family can hear the Word of God preached and establish lasting relationships, we would like to invite you to come and worship with us. We welcome you to our website! We invite you to look around and learn a little about us. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Thank You and God Bless.
